The Drive Within: Dr. Izu Okpara on Precision, Purpose, and the Pursuit of Passion
By Alexander Cartigan – Chief Editor
“Precision isn’t just part of my profession, it’s my philosophy.”
— Dr. Izu Okpara
From Scalpel to Steering Wheel
There’s a quiet exactness that defines Izu’s world, from the clinical discipline of surgery to the meticulous polish of his Aston Martin. The Nigerian-born physician, entrepreneur, and car enthusiast has transformed that instinct for precision into a philosophy that powers every pursuit.
As founder and CEO of Omni Wound Physicians, a pioneering mobile medical practice, Izu delivers advanced wound care to patients in their homes. His second venture, MSO.AI, pushes boundaries even further, integrating artificial intelligence into healthcare operations to modernize an industry often resistant to change.
“Healthcare is living in the Stone Age,” he says. “AI can read 500 colonoscopies with 98 percent accuracy. It’s not about replacing doctors; it’s about freeing us to be doctors again.”
Leadership by Decency
Izu’s entrepreneurial path wasn’t planned, it was born from conviction. After years in surgical training and an early role at another wound-care firm, he struck out on his own.
“I never imagined owning a business,” he recalls. “I just believed in treating everyone, staff and patients, with decency and respect.”
Within two years, a portion of his former employer’s team joined him. Loyalty, it seems, follows leadership grounded in humanity.
A Passion Born on the Track
Long before he was called “Doctor,” Izu was a kid in Lagos captivated by motion and competition. “I remember seeing kart racing for the first time and thinking, I want to do that,” he says. “From that moment, I was hooked.”
That fascination evolved from racetracks to screens, he mastered every Gran Turismo title growing up and spent hours studying cars in DuPont Registry. “Those games taught me how to read the road, how to feel speed. Even as a kid, I wanted to understand how cars worked, the balance, the control, the power.”
It’s a passion that still fuels him today, whether he’s driving the mountain roads of Santa Clarita at night to clear his head or joining friends from Fast Lane Drive, one of Southern California’s most exclusive car clubs.
The Doctor Who Drives
For Izu, the same precision that defines his medical work extends to what’s parked in his garage. His everyday ride is a Porsche Taycan, an electric masterpiece of speed and silence. But even on casual drives, he carries his purpose with him; literally.
“I keep all my G-tube replacement equipment in every car I own,” he explains. “If a patient needs me, I’m ready, even if I’m wearing flip-flops and a T-shirt. I’ve done procedures dressed like I was going to the beach. That’s what it means to be prepared.”
When the weekend arrives, though, it’s the Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition that calls his name, the perfect blend of luxury and performance.
His dream car? The Aston Martin Vanquish, the modern echo of the Bond car that first captured his imagination. After a two-night test drive arranged by friends at Galpin Aston Martin, he admits, “I told myself not to drive it because I knew I’d want it. Now I can’t stop thinking about it.”
Camaraderie and Connection
Ask Izu what keeps him grounded, and he won’t hesitate: community! As a member of Fast Lane Drive, he’s found more than a car club, he’s found a family.
“The camaraderie, the friendship, that’s what it’s all about,” he says. “It’s amazing how much business and opportunity comes from genuine connection. I’ve made great friends, amazing partners, and memories that money can’t buy.”
For a man who lives between the world of medicine and the world of motors, Fast Lane Drive represents a rare intersection, where shared passion becomes lasting partnership.
A Heart for Healing
Beyond luxury, Izu’s purpose remains rooted in service. Each year, he joins family-led medical missions to Nigeria, providing free care to hundreds in underserved communities.
“One woman came in with blood pressure so high she was minutes from a stroke,” he recalls. “We treated her, and weeks later she was fine. That’s what matters: leaving the world better than you found it.”
That mission extends to his ventures. With MSO.AI, Izu envisions a healthcare system that’s smarter, faster, and more humane. “My goal is to bring Omni Wound to all 50 states in the next 10 years, and then retire knowing I changed something.”
Timepieces of Character
Watches came later in life, but for Izu, they’re now as personal as his cars. His first was a humble Fossil, gifted by family, which caused a metal allergy yet sparked an enduring fascination. “I loved that watch so much I wore it even when it tingled like crazy,” he laughs.
Not all his treasures carry price tags. A simple Movado, bought in matching pairs for himself and his brother, remains his most sentimental piece. “It’s not about value, it’s about meaning.”
Today his collection favors understated design, Movado, Breitling, and IWC; chosen for their quiet confidence.
Precision. Purpose. Passion.
When asked about legacy, Okpara doesn’t hesitate.
“Make things better, even by one percent.”
It’s a modest statement on the surface, but beneath it lies the philosophy of a man who has spent his life chasing refinement, in craft, in character, and in motion. Whether performing a delicate medical procedure, piloting his Aston through a canyon curve, or adjusting the clasp of his IWC before a meeting, Okpara treats every action as an exercise in precision.
In the universe of Worn & Driven, where machinery meets meaning, that ethos resonates deeply. Dr. Izu Okpara is more than a physician or a collector. He’s a craftsman of life; a man who understands that precision without purpose is hollow, and that passion without discipline is fleeting.
And perhaps that’s the true luxury he embodies; not in what is Worn, but in how he moves through the world: Driven, deliberate, and always in pursuit of something just one percent better.
